Transmissive Spatial Light Modulator
Spatial light modulator (SLM) is a kind of device that can load information on one-dimensional or two-dimensional optical data field, so as to effectively use the proper velocity, parallelism and interconnection ability of light. These devices can change the amplitude or intensity, phase, polarization state, and wavelength of light distribution in space, or convert non coherent light into coherent light, under the control of time-varying electric driving signals or other signals. Due to its nature, it can be used as on construction units or key components in systems such as real-time optical information processing, optical computing, and optical neural networks.
The transmissive liquid crystal spatial light modulator is composed of an active matrix type liquid crystal board of a thin film transistor (TFT) and its accompanying driving circuit. The LCD board is also integrated with some driving circuits, making the driving method more stable and reliable. It can be easily transmitted with the standard interface of the computer when matched with the driving control. So as to achieve the goal of computers are used to conveniently control the amplitude or phase changes of spatial light.
